Salvwi,I don't think adding melted chocolate is absolutely essential but yes it does impart a richness to the cake. I didn't quite understand when you say "didn't come out as cake"..Baking is such an exact science that as a student myself, I must confess that I do get confused sometimes as to why anything goes wrong at all. Your measurements look quite like mine..except that the flour is half of what I used..is there anything else you can think of..say were all ingredients at room temp?..was the oven pre-heated? etc

Is adding melted chocolate to the cake batter necessary. I am asking this because once I tried it but the chocolate didn't come out as cake. So I stopped adding melted chocolate to the chocolate cake preparation. Could you tell me exactly what went wrong ? I had the measurements as 1C flour, 1 1/2 C sugar, 2 T cocoa powder and 1t baking soda along with 2 eggs, 1/2 C butter and 1C hot milk.

I must say that in school I knew you had very good literary skills but you also had culinary skills, I am amazed to know. I am your friend in the literary category because I love the way you express the journey to each of these recipes cooked by you. I melt into your writing when I start reading and then comes the photo of the food which mesmerizes me. I am not an avid kitchen person but this is one food blog I love reading. The story that you weave around your delicacies is what makes it simply different a read. Definitely "The Turmeric" is leaving it's bright colour with each dish.

I am a regular reader of this blog n preferably the sweets n cookies. I am a sweet tooth. You helped me sort out my New Year Mithai options. I will trying out, hazelnut cookies, barfi n nan-khatai[my fav].

When Mommy cooks nan-khatai she does not add besan. so wanted to know d reason for this variation n how exactly u thot of it?

Hey dear Jagruti,
I am now a regular reader of this online kitchen. I am a sweet tooth and hence preferably, I read those. I will trying 3 of ur recipes, Nan-khatai, Kaju Barfi n hazelnut cookies.

When my Mommy makes Nan-khatai, she does not add besan. Just curious to know how differently does besan add to the flavour so that I can suggest her too.
By the way, u helped me sort out my New year celebrations mithai options.
